2010 Scholarships

The following schools, with contact information, are offering scholarships to 11th and 12th grade students who have work accepted in the 2010 Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition. In most cases students will need to apply to these schools before they are eligible candidates for these scholarships.

The scholarships listed by each of the schools below are available offers and are not necessarily guaranteed for students in the Exhibition. The decision to award individual scholarships is at the sole discretion of each institution.

Three scholarships of $3,000 each are available to exhibitors, renewable based upon the criteria established by the Department of Art and contingent upon enrollment at Ashland University for the 2010-2011 year with a major in art. Ashland University has a new B.F.A. degree in Fine Art, effective the 2006-2007 academic year, and invites applications.

The School of Art will offer one $1,000 award to a Governor's Exhibitor. This scholarship is contingent upon prior acceptance from Bowling Green State University Admissions and successful completion of the portfolio review process required for BFA candidacy in the School of Art.

The Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA) will offer a minimum of 10 scholarships to students who are selected for exhibition. Scholarships will range between $10,000 - $16,000 and will be renewed annually for up to 4 years of undergraduate study at CIA (cumulative individual awards of $40,000 to $64,000 over the course of 4 years) as long as the recipient maintains a 3.0 cumulative g.p.a. and remains enrolled full-time. Accepted students will be eligible for additional scholarship funding based on their financial need determined by CIA financial aid administrators. In addition to these 10 scholarships, CIA will award two $900 scholarships for Juniors or Sophomores wishing to attend the CIA Pre-College Program (CIA's two-week long residential summer program).

Montserrat College of Art will reserve two $5,000 scholarships for qualified high school seniors participating in the 2010 Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition. Mount Union College will offer one $3,500 art scholarship to a recipient selected from the participants in the Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition at the state level. This offer will be contingent upon a portfolio review and admission to the College. In addition, art proficiencies are available from Mount Union College on a competitive basis as the result of a portfolio review during a campus visit and contingent upon admission to the College.

The School of Art at Ohio University has a total of $35,000 in renewable, GPA-based scholarships to award to promising incoming Freshmen. Of these monies, $5,000 - $10,000 has been earmarked for one or two students who have work selected for the State Exhibition, with the total amount for each student equal to $20,000.

Pittsburgh Technical Institute will award one scholarship. The value of the scholarship will be $6,000 for the first year and is renewable for an additional $6,000 for the second year if the recipient maintains a 3.0 average. The applicant must meet admission requirements. The applicant must enroll and start classes in either July or October of the year of his/her high school graduation.

Students who have artwork accepted into the Ohio Governor's Exhibition, and receive certificates indicating placement in the top 300 works, may be eligible to receive a 1,500 per year admission scholarship to SCAD, should they apply and be accepted. Accepted students may be eligible for additional scholarships based on GPA and SAT or ACT scores, portfolio submission, audition or writing submission. Scholarships are limited and awarded to the earliest qualifiers. Students entering in the fall are encouraged to apply and submit required scholarship materials no later than February 15.
