2012 Scholarships

The following schools, with contact information, are offering scholarships to 11th and 12th grade students who have work accepted in the 2012 Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition. In most cases students will need to apply to these schools before they are eligible candidates for these scholarships.

The scholarships listed by each of the schools below are available offers and are not necessarily guaranteed for students in the Exhibition. The decision to award individual scholarships is at the sole discretion of each institution.

Two scholarships are available; a first place award of $12,000 and a second place award of $8,250. Your scholarship will be applied to your tuition at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in an even distribution over the term of your enrollment. In order to accept your scholarship, you must complete the application and enrollment process with The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Admissions Department and begin class within six months of your high school graduation date.

Three scholarships of $3,000 each are available to exhibitors, renewable based upon the criteria established by the Department of Art and contingent upon enrollment at Ashland University for the 2012-2013 year with a major in art. Additional scholarships are available based on a portfolio review. Ashland University has a B.F.A. degree in Fine Art, and invites applications.

The School of Art will offer one $2,000 award to a Governor's Exhibitor. This scholarship is contingent upon prior acceptance from Bowling Green State University Admissions and successful completion of the portfolio review process required for BFA candidacy in the School of Art.

The Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA) will offer a minimum of 10 scholarships to students who are selected for exhibition. Scholarships will range between $10,000 - $16,000 and will be renewed annually for up to 4 years of undergraduate study at CIA (cumulative individual awards of $40,000 to $64,000 over the course of 4 years) as long as the recipient maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA and remains enrolled full-time. Accepted students will be eligible for additional scholarship funding based on their financial need determined by CIA financial aid administrators. In addition to these 10 scholarships, CIA will award two $900 scholarships for Juniors or Sophomores wishing to attend the CIA Pre-College Program (CIA's two-week long residential summer program).

A variety of academic scholarships are available ranging from $6,000 to $14,000. Scholarships are also available for transfer students. All traditional student scholarships are renewable if the student is full time and maintaining a 3.0 college GPA. For all scholarships, students must apply and be accepted for admission.

Montserrat College of Art will reserve two $5,000 scholarships for qualified high school seniors participating in the 2012 Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition. Pittsburgh Technical Institute offers active members of the Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition the opportunity to win one of the college's student organization scholarships. This is a partial tuition scholarship valued up to $6,000, based on the recipient's selected program, and applicable to July 2012, October 2012, or January 2013 enrollment. This scholarship is renewable for the second year of an associate degree program if the student maintains at least a 3.0 gpa. The scholarship application, available on www.pti.edu, must be received by March 2, 2012.
